Dance classes are for anyone with a love of dance or African rhythm and dance. Soukous dancing is explosive, fun, lively and playful, connecting body and spirit. It will have a positive impact on your physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health, and shift your focus from the stresses and strains of everyday life, to a happier, well-rounded outlook.

The complex poly-rhythms of the rumba/soukous styles will be broken down into a number of segments, each incorporating a specific part of the body, starting with the feet, and moving slowly through hip, arm and shoulder movements. By the end of a 6 week season, participants will have learnt the choreography to confidently perform one or two 5-6 minute pieces of soukous music.

It is preferred that participants dance with bare feet, and wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

Passi Jo's own CDs of original Soukous music will be available for $20 at each class.
